Day 2...

I just returned from Lake Nokomis. I made more progress around the lake but didn't do much running other than maybe 30 seconds. I made it to the little beach. My legs and feet were throbbing. I sat down in the sand and watched the lake a bit. I got up a minute later and walked past the Nokomis community center and my feet and legs felt like there were about to give up. I turned around and briskly but painfully walked back home.
It feels like like I'm walking on wooden boards just when I'm walking. I don't understand why I don't feel this sort of pain while I'm playing soccer. I thought about wearing my cleats but Chris thought that it might make my shins feel worse.
I hate complaining.....
Tomorrow will be better

The first day

I was going to start this blog prior to my first attempt at running but decided that I needed to get out there before my will was gone..
I left the house at 12. I was feeling great. The sun was shining. A bit hazy and and really humid. I started out walking at a good pace, had the IPod on to grooving songs, and couldn't wait to start. I got down to Nokomis a few blocks away and ran about 200 yards. I was still feeling good when I slowed to a walk again.
Then the pain started to settle in... My feet always hurt whenever I wear athletic shoes - my toes went numb. As I kept walking, my shins also started to ache. I made it to the little beach and just walked on the beach for a second before turning around.
I headed back and I got home at 12:30
I've been wanting to start running for years but have always felt intimidated. Today was the day that I broke down the barrier and I'm definitely going to keep at this. I'm not going to quit
